29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Turning Department - On June 13, 2019, the employer failed to ensure that all areas where hazards were created by rotating parts and the point of operation, were guarded on machinery, such as the TSUGAM CNC Turning Machine SS0032, to prevent injury to employees. The machine was provided a safety reliable interlocks that was not installed and held in place on the sliding door with a zip tie. Supreme Manufacturing Company, dba C & L Supreme Manufacturing Company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 991959, Citation number 1, Item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on October 9, 2014, with respect to the workplace located at 1755 E. Birchwood Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois 60018. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
