29 CFR 1910.252(c)(3)(ii): Fixed enclosure. A fixed enclosure with a top and not less than two sides which surround the welding or cutting operations and with a rate of airflow sufficient to maintain a velocity away from the welder of not less than 100 linear feet (30 m) per minute. a) On or about 6/27/2019, Local exhaust readings were taken in the welding booth with the Torit Downflo filter system used primarily for welding galvanized metal. Readings on that date indicated a flow rate away from the welder of approximately 20 linear feet per minute which is 80% below what the standard calls for. Readings in the high bay welding area were the same.
