29 CFR 1910.30(a)(1): Fall hazards. Before any employee is exposed to a fall hazard, the employer must provide training for each employee who uses personal fall protection systems or who is required to be trained as specified elsewhere in this subpart. Employers must ensure employees are trained in the requirements of this paragraph on or before May 17, 2017: (a) Employees performing servicing work exposed to fall hazards were not trained on 1910 Subpart D.

29 CFR 1910.29(a)(2): (2) Provide and install all fall protection systems and falling object protection this subpart requires, and comply with the other requirements in this subpart before any employee begins work that necessitates fall or falling object protection. On June 25, 2019, at 1035 W. Greene St. Piqua, a two-story storage building at French Oil Mill Machinery Co., a fall protection system had not been installed before the employees began working on the repair of a section of a 4' x 4' section of roof on 2/12 pitch and exposed to a 30 ft. fall hazard.

29 CFR 1910.28(c): Protection from falling objects. When an employee is exposed to falling objects, the employer must ensure that each employee wears head protection that meets the requirements of 29 CFR part 1910, subpart I. In addition, the employer must protect employees from falling objects by implementing one or more of the following: On June 25, 2019, at 1035 W. Greene St. Piqua, a two-story storage building, two employees threw damaged wood slats and metal from the roof approximately 30 ft. to the ground and did not provide protection from these falling objects for employees from French Oil Mill Machinery walking in the area on the ground below.
