29 CFR 1926.502(h)(1): The employer shall designate a competent person to monitor the safety of other employees and the employer shall ensure that the safety monitor complies with the following requirements: 29 CFR 1926.502(h)(1)(v): The safety monitor shall not have other responsibilities which could take the monitor's attention from the monitoring function. a. On or about June 25, 2019, at the commercial job site where the employees were replacing a flat roof on a three story building, the employer did not ensure that the safety monitor complied with not performing other activities such as moving tools around on the roof for employees removing the existing roof, thereby exposing employees to a fall hazard.
