29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about June 11, 2019, and times prior thereto, employees cleaned the aluminum can baler conveyor by removing the guards and reaching in between belt and rollers to remove cans while the machine was still energized and operating. The employer did not protect employees from caught-in and amputation hazards when the guards were removed.
