A safe means of egress was not located in the trench. A ladder was on site, but was not in the trench. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c). a) On or about 7/17/19, in an excavation at Pleasant View Drive & Hillside Parkway, Lancaster, NY: An employee was working in a 6 ft. deep excavation on a water line installation project. No adequate protective system was being used to protect the employee from a cave-in hazard. There was one trench box setting on the ground next to the excavation, and another trench box setting on the ground across the street on the north side of Pleasant View Drive. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
