29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc: a) On or about July 30, 2019, the ingoing nip point created by idler roller and conveyor belt above the east wall walkway on the Scalping Conveyor was accessible through a 4 inch gap between the conveyor catch pan and the conveyor frame. c) On or about July 30, 2019, four ingoing nip points created by idler rollers and the conveyor belt on the Fine and Coarse Sand Conveyor Lines were accessible through the 1 to 2 inch gap above the idler roller guard edges and conveyor belt.
