29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1)(i): Selection of appropriate respirators was not based on the respiratory hazard(s) to which the worker was exposed and user factors that affect respirator performance and reliability: (a) On or about July 31, 2019 and at times prior thereto Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) and Special Agents conducting raids off illegal marijuana grow sites in the Sierra National Forest were exposed to respiratory hazards from carbofuran and other pesticides/chemicals but were not provided with the proper respiratory protection. Employees were provided with 3M N-95 Aura Particulate Respirator 9211+ and not with half-faced or full-faced air-purifying respirators as stated on the Safety Data Sheet for carbofuran.
