In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.

29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprocket wheels and chains which were seven (7) feet or less above floors or platforms were not enclosed:  (a)    Airframe Bearings Lab, Constant Load Test Stand 1: On or about July 31, 2019, employee was exposed to the ingoing nip points of the chains and sprockets while operating the equipment without the guards in place.     (b)   Airframe Bearings Lab, Constant Load Test Stands 1, 2 and 3: On or about August 6, 2019, the expanded metal guards did not adequately protect employees in that the two guards on top had ½ inch openings located approximately ¼ inch from the chains and sprockets underneath.     (c)    Airframe Bearings Lab, Constant Load Test Stands 1, 2 and 3: On or about August 6, the expanded metal guards did not adequately protect employees in that the guards on the sides of the equipment had ½ inch openings located approximately 2 inches from the chains and sprockets underneath.     (d)   Airframe Bearings Lab, Constant Load Test Stands 1, 2 and 3: On or about August 6, the lower portion of each test stand had an opening in front that measured approximately 9-1/2 inches by 28-1/4 inches, exposing employees to the moving chains and sprockets underneath.     In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
