29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazard(s) created by: a) Corregator machine: On or about August 8, 2019 and at times prior thereto; employees placed their hands within the area of an in-running nip point between the double backer's idler roll and heat conditioning coil in order to remove excess glue, and only a chain and warning sign is in place to prevent employees from entering the hazard area. Note* Abatement certification AND documentation IS required for this item. Packaging Corporation of America was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1081782, citation number1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on 9/30/205, with respect to a workplace located at 20400 Old Rome State Road, Watertown, NY 13601.
