29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: Exterior of Museum Building: Employee(s) were installing a lateral sewer line in a trench that measured approximately 70 inches deep. An employee accessed the trench by jumping into it. Employee(s) in the trench had to laterally travel 36 feet to a ramp or 44 feet to a ladder for egress purposes. Employees were exposed to fall hazards.
