Listed or labeled equipment shall be installed and used in accordance with any instructions included in the listing or labeling. a) Throughout the warehouse of 3025 Bowlerama Drive, New Castle, DE: On or about August 23, 2019, the employer failed to ensure relocatable power taps (RPT) used to power computer workstations, printers, fans, electric stingers, and digital scales, were directly connected to a permanent outlet. a) Throughout the warehouse of 3025 Bowlerama Drive, New Castle, DE: On or about August 23, 2019, the employer failed to ensure relocatable power taps (RPT) used to power computer workstations, printers, fans, electric stingers, and digital scales, were not connected in series to extension cords. Abatement Note: Underwriters Laboratories (UL), refers to power strips as Relocatable Power Taps (RPTs) and, in its "General Information for Electrical Equipment Directory" (sometimes called the UL white book or UL Directory) contains instructions that require UL-listed RPTs to be directly connected to a permanently installed branch circuit receptacle; they are not to be series-connected to other RPTs or connected to extension cords.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Flexible cords and/or cables were used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure: a) Throughout the warehouse of 3025 Bowlerama Drive, New Castle, DE: On or about August 23, 2019, the employer failed to ensure flexible cords (extension cords and relocatable power taps) were not used in lieu of of fixed wiring. Multiple extension cords connected in series to provide power to workstations, exposing employees to electrical and fire hazards.
