29 CFR 1910.253(b)(4)(iii): Oxygen cylinders in storage were not separated from fuel-gas cylinders or combustible materials (especially oil or grease), by a minimum distance of 20 feet (6.1 m) or by a noncombustible barrier at least 5 feet (1.5 m) high having a fire-resistance rating of at least one-half hour. a) At the facility, in the plant, on or about September 11, 2019, employees were required to work in close proximity to stored gas cylinders in the performance of their duties. The employer failed to ensure cylinders of compressed oxygen and acetylene were stored at a distance of at least 20 feet apart, thus exposing employees to explosion and fire hazards.
