29 CFR 1926.152(a)(1): Containers other than approved metal safety cans or DOT approved containers were used for the handling and use of flammable liquids in quantities of 5 gallons or less:    On or about September 18, 2019 at 1788 Highway 356 in Helen, Georgia; employees performing roofing work were exposed to fire and explosion hazards where gasoline was stored in and dispensed from a 5 gallon, red plastic container provided by the employer which was not a metal safety can.      In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.9(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems:    On or about September 18, 2019 at the worksite located at 1788 Highway 356 in Helen, Georgia, employees installing roofing materials were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 11.8 feet with a pitch of 6 in 12, where the employer failed to ensure that each employee was provided and using proper fall protection measures.     No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.

29 CFR 1926.552(a)(4): Hoisting ropes shall be installed in accordance with the wire rope manufacturers' recommendations.    At the jobsite located at 1788 Highway 356 Helen, GA; where the employer failed to ensure the material hoist ad the proper type rope installed where the prescribed wire type rope was replaced with a nylon "climbing" rope used to lift materials to the roof area exposing workers below to potential failure if the rope were to break or the knot loosen.     In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
