1915.84(a)(1) The employer did not account for each employee working alone, such as in a confine space or isolated location, throughout each work shift at regular intervals appropriate to the job assignment to ensure the employee's safety and health: a) On or about and at times prior to September 18, 2019, an employee who was working alone inside the engine room of tow-boat removing valves from tanks was not being properly monitored by the employer to ensure the employee�s safety and health. While performing work on the tanks, the employee was exposed to the hazard of high ambient temperature, which produced an indoor Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGTi) of 84.7 degrees Fahrenheit (Heat Index of 99 degrees Fahrenheit). Such exposures may lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, dehydration, syncope, hypotension and acute kidney injury.
