Not more than 60 gallons of Category 1, 2, or 3 flammable liquids, nor more than 120 gallons of Category 4 flammable liquids may be stored in a storage cabinet. a) On or about Oct 8th, 2019, the employer exceeded the maximum capacity of 60 Gallons of CAT III Flammable Liquids by storing three Acetone - 55GAL drums in a shipping container, exposing employees to an explosion and fire hazard. NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1910.106(d)(3)(ii)(a): Metal storage cabinets construction. The bottom, top, door, and sides of cabinet were not at least No. 18 gage sheet iron and double walled with 1 1/2 - inch air space. Joints were not riveted, welded or made tight by some equally effective means. The door was not provided with a three-point lock, and the door sill was not raised at least 2 inches above the bottom of the cabinet. a) On or about Oct 8th, 2019, flammable and combustible liquid containers used for shipbuilding activities were stored on metal shipping container which was not constructed with the bottom, top, door, and sides of cabinet with at least No. 18 gage sheet iron and double walled with 1 1/2 - inch air space. NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by CFR 1903.19(c).
