Electrical wiring, motors, and other equipment outside of but within twenty (20) feet of any spraying area, and not separated therefrom by partitions, shall not produce sparks under normal operating conditions and shall otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part for Class I, Division 2 Hazardous Locations:  At a facility located at 1112 Water Street, Merrill, WI 54452; electrical control pendants for the overhead cranes were no of explosion-proof type approved for use in Class I, Division I hazardous locations. The pendants were used within 20 feet of spray areas and were not designed to prevent the pendants from becoming potential ignition sources to the flammable gases and vapors in the spray painting process.
