(i) When work is performed less than 6 feet (1.6 m) from the roof edge, the employer must ensure each employee is protected from falling by a guardrail system, safety net system, travel restraint system, or personal fall arrest system. a. On or about October 23, 2019, on the hot oil building roof, employees were required to access a valve located approximately three feet six inches (3'6") from the edge of the roof thereby exposing employees of falls of approximately 30 feet when not provided with fall protection.
