29 CFR 1910.107(b)(3): The floor surface of a spray booth and operator's working area, if combustible, was not covered with noncombustible material of such character as to facilitate the safe cleaning and removal of residues. a) On November 6, 2019, Marblecast Granite & Marble, Inc., did not ensure that the floor surface of the spray booth was covered with non-combustible material which facilitated the cleaning and removal of residues. The floor surface of the Gruber Systems dry type gel-coat spray booth, where category 3 gel coat was sprayed, was covered with combustible granulated roofing membranes. Large accumulations of combustible residue from the gel-coat spraying operations was present on the floor, especially towards the back of the booth. No abatement certification or documentation required for this item.

29 CFR 1910.107(b)(5)(i): The employer did not have visible gauges, audible alarms, or pressure activated devices installed to indicate or ensure that the required air velocity was maintained on a spray booth: a) On November 12, 2019, at Marblecast Granite & Marble, Inc., there was no visible gauge or audible alarm or pressure activated device installed in the spray booth to indicate that sufficient air velocity was maintained. Air flow measurements taken on November 12, 2019 indicated that the cross-sectional air flow during gel-coat spraying operations in the Gruber Systems dry type gel-coat spray booth averaged 63 cfm (cubic feet per minute). In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19 (d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstration that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
