29 CFR 1915.158(a)(2): prior to each use, personal flotation devices were not inspected for dry rot, chemical damage, or other defects which may affect their strength and buoyancy. Pier: Motor Vessel owned by Chuck Smith: An employee working on the motor vessel was required to wear personal flotation device that contained punctures and holes as well as had various lubricants covering 25% of material which affects the strength and buoyancy of the device. The employer had not ensured personal flotation device was inspected prior to use to ensure damage devices were replaced. Employees were exposed to drowning hazards.
