Employees engaged in residential roofing activities, walking and working on a 8:12 pitch roof, were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 11 feet and 6 inches from the eave of the residence to the ground below in that fall protection was not utilized.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder was used to gain access: Employees were exposed to fall hazards. Employees engaged in roofing installation activities, using a Werner 24 foot extension ladder, were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 11 feet from the eave of the residence to the ground below. Employees were exposed in that the ladder did not extend at least 3 feet above the eave.
