29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Machine Shop - The employer failed to ensure that a chuck guard was attached to the Skil Brand Model 3380 5-Speed 8 inch drill press thus exposing employees to amputation hazards. An employee for the company suffered an amputation when operating the drill press without a chuck guard in place. Observed on or about 06 NOV 2019.
