ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED   ABATEMENT NOTE: The employer shall verify that the required workplace hazard assessment has been performed through a written certification that identifies the workplace evaluated; the person certifying that the evaluation has been performed; the date(s) of the hazard assessment; and, which identifies the document as a certification of hazard assessment.

29 CFR 1910.1030(c)(1)(i): The employer having employee(s) with occupational exposure did not establish a written Exposure Control Plan designed to eliminate or minimize employee exposure:  a) Guest Rooms: When cleaning hotel rooms, employees (housekeepers) had an anticipated occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials (e.g., semen and menstrual fluid), and the employer did not establish and implement a written exposure control plan for bloodborne pathogens, as discovered on or about 12/18/2019.  b) Laundry Area: When spot cleaning and laundering contaminated linens, employees (housekeepers) had an anticipated occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials (e.g., semen and menstrual fluid), and the employer did not establish and implement a written exposure control plan for bloodborne pathogens, as discovered on or about 12/18/2019.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED   ABATEMENT NOTE: Key elements of an exposure control plan for bloodborne pathogens, include, but are not limited to, the written program, use of appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves), annual training, offering employees the Hepatitis B vaccination series, and prompt disposal of contaminated sharps in a sharps disposal container.
