29 CFR 1910.1030(h)(5)(i): The employer did not establish and maintain a sharps injury log for the recording of percutaneous injuries from contaminated sharps as required. The information in the sharps injury log shall be recorded and maintained in such manner as to protect the confidentiality of the injured employee, and shall contain, at a minimum: (A) The type and brand of device involved in the incident, (B) The department or work area where the exposure incident occurred, and (C) An explanation of how the incident occurred. a) Lexington Health Care Center of Schaumburg, Inc., Schaumburg IL- On January 7, 2020, the employer did not establish and maintain a Sharps Injury Log for calendar year 2019, in the detail required for the sharps injuries that occurred at the facility, including, but not limited to the 12/9/19 recordable needlestick injury. The sharps injury log did not include the brand or model of the device(s) involved in the incident. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
