29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employee(s) were exposed to an airborne concentration of Carbon Monoxide listed in Table Z-1 in excess of the 8 hour Time Weighted Average concentration of 50 parts per million: a. Repair Shop - On or about January 20, 2020, an employee was exposed to carbon monoxide from a propane powered Hyster forklift and natural gas Weil-McLain furnace at an 8-hour time weighted average of 223.8 parts per million, approximately 4.48 times the OSHA PEL of 50 parts per million; this is the limit established to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Note: Acute exposure to high levels of carbon monoxide may result in symptoms of central nervous system toxicity including, but not limited to headache, dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, confusion, disorientation, irritability, visual disturbances, convulsions, coma, and death. Following acute-onset effects, delayed development of neuropsychiatric impairment may occur within 14 weeks of exposure, with symptoms including inappropriate euphoria, impaired judgment, poor concentration, memory loss, cognitive and personality changes, and psychosis.
