29 CFR 1910.137(c)(2)(vii)(C): Any other class of glove may be used without protector gloves, under limited-use conditions, when small equipment and parts manipulation necessitate unusually high finger dexterity but only if the employer can demonstrate that the possibility of physical damage to the gloves is small and if the class of glove is one class higher than that required for the voltage involved. b) At the jobsite, on or about 1/3/20: An electrician was replacing a panel on an energized 800 amp service cabinet where the gloves he was using were too thick to manipulate the attachment screws, causing the worker to remove one glove to handle the screw and leaving that hand unprotected just prior to the arc-flash.

And following the arc-blast a generator was provided to supply power to non life-critical services in the building. Engler Electric was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (CFR 1910.333(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 11221188, citation number 1, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on 5/27/16, with respect to a workplace located at 200 South Washington Street, Herkimer, NY.
