29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): a) Jobsite located at 2901 Abbotsford Avenue, Philadelphia: The employer did not ensure that a protective system was installed inside a trench that was approximately 7 feet deep 10 feet in length and 5 feet wide, to protect the employees from caught in between hazards. Condition was observed on or about 18 FEB 2020.

29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury: a) Jobsite located at 2901 Abbotsford Avenue, Philadelphia: The employer failed to instruct the employees who were working in an approximately 7 foot deep, 10 foot long, and 5 foot wide trench without shoring while utilizing an air compressed jack hammer in the trench a way to avoid the unsafe working conditions. Condition was observed on or about 18 FEB 2020.
