29 CFR 1910.184(d): Inspections. Each day before being used, the sling and all fastenings and attachments shall be inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer. Additional inspections shall be performed during sling use, where service conditions warrant. Damaged or defective slings shall be immediately removed from service.    (a) On or about February 26, 2020, in the West bay, a Walker lifting magnet used to handle steel metal shafts did not have the rated load capacity, weight of lifting magnet, duty cycle and other required identification information marked/affixed to the lifting device. This exposed the employee(s) to a struck by hazard.
