29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operators and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc: (a) D&D Commodities at 420 O Street, Greeley, CO 80631: On and before February 21, 2020, the employer did not ensure that the machinery located at the end of the product conveyor on top of the Jar Line Palletizer #6 was provided with guards to protect operators and other employees from hazards created by the moving push arm. This condition exposed the employees in the area to caught-in-between and crushing injuries caused by unprotected points of operation. (b) D&D Commodities at 420 O Street, Greeley, CO 80631: On and before February 21, 2020, the employer did not ensure that the machinery located at the bottom of the Jar Line Palletizer #6 was provided with guards on both sides to protect operators and other employees from hazards created by the vertically moving pallet lift inside. This condition exposed the employees in the area to caught-in-between and crushing injuries caused by unprotected points of operation.
