29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.   a. On or about February 26, 2020 and at times prior, located in the Inject Department at inject #5, employees handled pork bellies at a slat conveyor that had openings between its slates that created pinch points, thereby exposing the employees to caught-in hazards.     b. On or about February 26, 2020 and at times prior, located in the Inject Department at Inject #5, employees handled pork bellies at a conveyor that had an opening between its belt and end roller, thereby exposing the employees to a caught-in hazard.  c.  On or about March 9, 2020, employees were potentially exposed to moving gears when threading saran on Saran Line #7 thereby exposing employees to caught-in hazards.

29 CFR 1910.335(a)(1)(i): Employees working in areas where there are potential electrical hazards shall be provided with, and shall use, electrical protective equipment that is appropriate for the specific parts of the body to be protected and for the work to be performed.  Note: Personal protective equipment requirements are contained in subpart I of this part.   a. On or about February 24, 2020, the employer did not ensure employees wore the proper personal protective equipment while working in a 240 vac electrical cabinet, thereby exposing employees to electrical shock hazards.

Test voltages and the maximum intervals between tests shall be in accordance with Table I-4 and Table I-5.  a. On or about February 26, 2020 and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that rubber insulated gloves used for electrical work were tested at least every six months.

This subparagraph does not apply to keys or setscrews within gear or sprocket casings or other enclosures, nor to keys, setscrews, or oilcups in hubs of pulleys less than twenty (20) inches in diameter where they are within the plane of the rim of the pulley.  a. On or about February 26, 2020 and at times prior, located in the Inject Department on Injector #5, the employer did not ensure that protruding set screws were made flush or guarded by metal cover.
