OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:      The employer is failing to protect employees from electrical and caught between hazards associated with performing maintenance on equipment with hazardous energy.  This was evident during the inspection conducted on March 11, 2020 at the Brenneman Thompson pig farm, where the employer had employees working unprotected on equipment with hazardous energy.  Instances include but are not limited to:      1.  Employees maintaining and clearing jams on a feed auger.  All potential energy sources require de-energization,       including the potential spring energy in the feed auger.  2.  Employees maintaining and replacing circuit breakers.       Among other methods of feasible and acceptable means of abatement, but not limited to, is the following:      i. The employer developing and implementing a comprehensive Lockout and/or Tag Out program as prescribed and enforced specific procedures as outlined in ASNI/ASSE Z244.1-2016, and ensure use of the program by employees.    ii. The employer providing lockout and/or tag out training to employees on the recognition of the applicable hazardous stored energy in their facility, the procedures to be used, and how to lock an tag equipment being serviced.[DB-O1]       Abatement documentation is required for this violation.
