29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc.   a) On 4/29/2020 while operating the GE Schmidt Spot Welder Model Pro1480T2050, serial number is 01530 after activating the two finger controls an employee reached into the point of operation to adjust a part when the machine cycled and came down on the operators hand due to not having a guarding method such as but not limited to either barrier guards or electronic safety devices that would stop the motion of the spot welding head.  The Deer Park Die and Stamping, Inc. DBA NN. Inc was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (name previously cited standard), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1380378, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 05/07/2019 with respect to a workplace located at 4348 Lesaint Ct. Fairfield, OH 45014.
