29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. a. On or about May 27, 2020 at 8575 Refugee Rd in Pickerington, Ohio employees were not instructed to recognize and avoid fall hazards while installing shingles on a steep sloped roof, 5/12 pitch, of a strip mall without any form of fall protection. Brown's Roofing was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.21(b)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1399358, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on June 5, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 99 East 16th Avenue in Columbus, Ohio.

Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a. On or about May 27, 2020 at 8575 Refugee Rd in Pickerington, Ohio employees were exposed to fall hazards while installing shingles on a steep sloped roof, 5/12 pitch, of a strip mall without any form of fall protection.
