Section (5)(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to vehicle struck-by hazards while crossing the street with the ride-on mower to continue with landscaping activities on the other side of street: a. 3025 Northwoods Parkway, Norcross, Georgia 30093 (Grass Median) - The employer did not provide training to ensure that the landscaping employees were familiar with local traffic/pedestrian laws relating to where to cross a public street in order to maximize the possibility that oncoming traffic would be able to see the employee and maximize the employee's ability to check traffic flow in all directions. An employee operating a walk behind (Turf Tracer) mower failed to cross at the intersection and to look both ways (North and South) for oncoming vehicles, on or about June 2, 2020 Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazardous condition would be: 1. Provide training and adhere to the local government such as, City, County and State pedestrian traffic safety rules.
