Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b) of this section, each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system.   a. On or about June 25, 2020, an employee was exposed to falls from heights of approximately 22 feet while working on a roofing job on a commercial building with a low-slope roof without adequate fall protection.  The employee was outside of the warning line system on the back side of the building and was not protected by a guardrail system, safety net system, personal fall arrest system, or safety monitoring system, when outside of the warning lines.  b. On or about June 25, 2020, employees were exposed to falls from heights of approximately 27 feet while working on a roofing job on a commercial building with a low-slope roof without adequate fall protection. Employees were outside of the warning line system on the front side of the building and were not protected by a guardrail system, safety net system, personal fall arrest system, or safety monitoring system, when outside of the warning lines.
