29 CFR 1910.22(c): The employer must provide and ensure each employee uses, a safe means of access and egress to and from walking-working surfaces. WAREHOUSE: The employer did not provide and ensure each employee uses, a safe means of access and egress to and from walking-working surfaces when employees operate a powered industrial truck (width 42.25 inches) in aisles (width 50 and 54 inches) which are only 7.75 and 11.75 inches wider than the equipment. Employees in the warehouse use a sit down forklift (Clark TMX25) and a stand up forklifts (Raymond 7200-R35TT, Crown 5700) to move pallets of product into or out of trucks and in the warehouse through narrow aisles. Employees would not be able to safely egress out of the forklift in the aisles measured by the CSHO (50-54 inches) due to the aisle not being at least three feet wider than the forklifts which measured 42-42.5 inches.
