29 CFR 1926.405(a)(2)(ii)(I): Flexible cords and cables shall be protected from damage. Sharp corners and projections shall be avoided. Flexible cords and cables may pass through doorways or other pinch points, if protection is provided to avoid damage. On and about August 20, 2020, employees of multiple contractors were exposed to potential fire hazards while plugging into a 30A, 240V temporary panel that was fed from a permanent panel with a cable pinched between the panel box and panel cover which exposed the cable jacket to damage.

29 CFR 1926.405(b)(1): Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings. Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings shall be protected from abrasion, and openings through which conductors enter shall be effectively closed. Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings shall also be effectively closed. On and about August 20, 2020, employees of multiple contractors were exposed to potential fire hazards while working near a 30A, 240V temporary panel that was fed from a permanent panel with a cable pinched between the panel box and panel cover, creating a gap of approximately 3/4".
