29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee(s) engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b): (a) Jobsite: On or about September 4, 2020, employees were working (installing asphalt shingles) from a residential roof and they were not protected from falling to the ground. The fall hazard ranged from about 12 feet to 22 feet. The pitch of the roof was about 10 in 12.

29 CFR 1926.503(c)(3): 29 CFR 1926.503(c)(3): When inadequacies in an affected employee's knowledge or use of fall protection systems or equipment indicate that the employee has not retained the requisite understanding or skill, the employer shall retrain the affected employee: (a) Jobsite: On or about September 4, 2020, three employees were not protected from falling from the roof of a residential home while they were installing asphalt shingles. The fall hazard to these employees ranged from about 12 to 22 feet. These employees need to retrained on when and how they need to use fall protection.
