1910.212(a)(1) Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or about September 09, 2020, located at 3301 Toy Road, Groveport, Ohio: the employer did not ensure that the Marel 15" Wide Mesh Conveyor Belt part of the CES Freezing Technology-Flat Belt Cryogenic Tunnel Freezer (nitrogen tunnel), was shut down using the procedures established to avoid caught-in hazards at the transitions location to employees when they had to clear jams. Employees were therefore exposed to caught-in hazards when they had to clear, but not limited to bread jams at the mesh conveyor belt exit location.
