29 CFR 1910.138(a): General requirements. Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. On or about September 30, 2020, hand protection was not provided to employees dumping hot frying grease exposing employees to thermal burn hazards.

29 CFR 1910.242(a): General requirements. Each employer shall be responsible for the safe condition of tools and equipment used by employees, including tools and equipment which may be furnished by employees. (a) The Star Manufacturing fryer was missing the fryer head lifting handle on the left side exposing employees to burn hazards from hot oil. (b) The Star Manufacturing fryer had the fryer head locking pin on the left side which did not always engage exposing employees to burn hazards from hot oil.
