29 CFR  OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards:  (a) U-Haul of West Central Colorado dba U-Haul Moving & Storage of Highlands Ranch at 1750 E. County Line Rd. Highlands Ranch Colorado 80126: On or before 10/9/2020, the employer did not protect employees from crushing injuries in that employees were operating the Toyota forklift without wearing a seatbelt. An employee sustained serious injuries due to the Toyota forklift tipping over. This condition exposed employees to crushing and caught-between hazards.  Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item. See enclosed "Certification of Corrective Actions Worksheet."  Among other methods, a feasible and accepted method to correct this hazard is to ensure that operators utilize the factory installed seatbelt during operation.

County Line Rd. Highlands Ranch Colorado 80126: On or before 10/13/2020, the employer did not protect employees from injury in that employees were operating the Toyota forklift without completing their forklift training. Operators were not trained and certified in accordance with this standard. An employee sustained serious injuries due to the Toyota forklift tipping over. This condition exposed employees to crushing, caught-between, and struck-by hazards.  Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item. See enclosed "Certification of Corrective Actions Worksheet."
