29 CFR  1926.300(b)(3):"Types of guarding." One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are - barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.:  a) On October 5, 2020, the employer did not provide guarding for the pinch points created during a hydraulic clamp closing action. The hydraulic clamp is part of the Breaking Table on the Diedrich D-50 Turbo Drill Rig Serial Number 393. The hydraulic clamp was being used to hold drilling rod sections while disassembling the drilling rod into sections and removing the drilling bit from a drilling rod section. The work crew was taking soil samples on the property located at  W3718 South Drive, Plymouth, WI.
