The employer required employees to wear  an N95 filtering facepiece respirator or a ? face tight fitting respirators while in the research and development section of the laboratory within the facility, while performing chemical processes to test, research and develop new pharmaceuticals.

29 CFR 1910.134(k)(1):The employer did not provide respirator training that ensured that each employee could demonstrate knowledge of at least the following elements: Why the respirator is necessary and how improper fit, usage, or maintenance can compromise the protective effect of the respirator; What the limitations and capabilities of the respirator are; How to use the respirator effectively in emergency situations, including situations in which the respirator malfunctions; How to inspect, put on and remove, use, and check the seals of the respirator; What the procedures are for maintenance and storage of the respirator, and How to recognize medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of respirators:   Sterling Pharmaceutical Services, LLC located at 109 S. 2nd Street, Dupo, Illinois:   On or about 03/11/2021, the employer did not provide employees with effective training on the effects of improper fit, limitations, inspections, maintenance and care, medical signs and symptoms preventing effective use, and seal check of filtering facepiece respirators. The employer required employees to wear an N95 filtering facepiece respirator or a ? face tight fitting respirator while in the research and development section of the laboratory within the facility, while performing chemical processes to test, research and develop new pharmaceuticals.

29 CFR  1910.151(c):Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use:  On or about 11/02/2020, the employer did not provide employees with suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body when the eyes or body of any employee was exposed to injurious corrosive materials while working in the research and development section of the laboratory within the facility, performing chemical processes to test, research and develop new pharmaceuticals such as, but not limited to, are Ambrisentan, which contains Hydrogen Chloride and Hydrogen Fluoride, Benzalkonium, and Lexgard (Ethylhexylglycerin).
