29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(i): Engineering and work practice controls shall be used to eliminate or minimize employee exposure. Where occupational exposure remains after institution of these controls, personal protective equipment shall also be used. ESTABLISHMENT: Engineering controls and work practice controls, such as no-hands procedures for detecting contaminated sharps, were not used to eliminate or minimize employee exposure for tasks such as (but not limited to) patting down clothing to check for sharp objects before laundering.
