29 CFR  1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area:   Employees were exposed to health hazards.  Employees engaged in blasting activities were exposed to health hazards in that the employer had not provided employees with effective information and training on the hazardous chemicals in their workplace.  Hazardous Chemicals used at the workplace include but are not limited to crushed glass, welding materials, and chromium.

29 CFR  1910.134(c)(1)(ii): The written program did not contain provisions for medical evaluations of employees required to use respirators:   Employees were exposed to health hazards.  Employees engaged in blasting activities while voluntarily using respirators under there hoods were exposed to health hazards.  The employer had not determined that the respirator itself will not create a hazard. Employees voluntarily wearing full face respirators under supplied air hood in blasting booth were exposed to health hazards in that the employer had not provided a medical evaluation to the employees.

Employees engaged in blasting activities while voluntarily using respirators under their blasting hoods were exposed to health hazards in that the employer had not provided the basic advisory information on respirators, as presented in Appendix D of 29 CFR 1910.134, in written or oral format.

29 CFR  1910.151(c):Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use:  Employees were exposed to health hazards. Employees engaged  filling of electrolyte in the battery filling area in the production area were exposed to corrosive hazards in that an eye wash was not available. Employer utilized lead acid batteries that employees would fill the electrolyte.
