29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. On or about November 18, 2020, the employer did not ensure the operator(s) of three Doosan Puma 240MS CNC lathe machines were protected by one or more methods of machine guarding from the hazards created by the point of operation and rotating parts of the machine. The safety interlock devices attached to the door barrier guards were disabled to allow the machine to operate with the door guards open. b. On or about November 18, 2020, the employer did not ensure the operator(s) of two Doosan Puma 400L CNC turning center machines were protected by one or methods of machine guarding from the hazards created by the point of operation and rotating parts of the machine. The safety interlock devices attached to the door barrier guards were disabled to allow the machine to operate with the door guards open.
