Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a) Raul Jose Vargas Hidalgo, at a jobsite located at 7215 Sea Breeze West, Meter building, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 : On and/or preceding January 27, 2021, the employer did not ensure employees were adequately protected from falls while engaged in roofing activities. An employee was installing roofing materials while using non-safety rated fall protection equipment, thereby being exposed to a 8 foot, 2 inch fall hazard.

29 CFR 1926.502(e)(2):Positioning devices shall be secured to an anchorage capable of supporting at least twice the potential impact load of an employee's fall or 3,000 pounds (13.3 kN), whichever is greater. a) Raul Jose Vargas Hidalgo, at a jobsite located at 7215 Sea Breeze West, Meter building, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 : On and/or preceding January 27, 2021, the employer failed to ensure anchorages were capable of supporting at least twice the potential impact load of an employee's fall or 3,000 pounds. Employees used ropes, which were tied directly around the trusses at the top nail plate, for positioning while working on the roof of a meter building. This lack of an adequate anchorage thereby exposed the employees to fall hazards of 8 feet, 2 inches.

The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards. a) Raul Jose Vargas Hidalgo, at a jobsite located at 7215 Sea Breeze West, Meter building, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 : On and/or preceding January 27, 2021, the employer did not ensure employees were trained on the recognition of fall hazards or the correct procedures required to be followed to minimize the fall hazards. Employees, without fall protection training, were conducting roofing activities while working on the roof of a meter building, thereby exposed to fall hazards of 8 feet, 2 inches.
