29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1):Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: (Construction Reference: 1926.59) San Manuel Expansion Project (Hotel): 7th Floor: An employee was mixing batches of Westpac Joint Compound and was applying this compound to walls during drywall operations. The employer had not provided training specific to the health and safety hazards of the chemicals which contain crystalline silica at the time of the initial assignment. The employee was exposed to dermal irritation hazards.

The employer had not provided personal protective equipment (gloves) that would protect the affected employee from the hazards associated with the chemicals used.
