29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: (Construction Reference: 1926.59) San Manuel Casino Hotel Project: An employee used 253 Gold Mortar containing 30-40% by weight Portland Cement and 3701 Fortified Mortar Quikrete Mason Mix with 20-28% by weight Portland Cement during tile cutting and installation operations. The employer had not provided training specific to the health and safety hazards of Portland Cement at the time of his initial assignment. The employee was exposed to dermal sensitivity and irritation hazards.

29 CFR 1910.132(f)(1): The employer did not provide training to each employee who is required by this section to use personal protective equipment: San Manuel Casino Hotel Project: An employee used 253 Gold Mortar containing 30-40% by weight Portland Cement and 3701 Fortified Mortar Quikrete Mason Mix with 20-28% by weight Portland Cement during tile cutting and installation operations. The employer had not provided training on personal protective equipment limitations, maintenance, storage, or disposal procedures needed to protect against the hazards of Portland Cement. The employee was exposed to dermal sensitivity and irritation hazards.
