29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.    On or about February 9, 2021, and at times prior thereto, the employer did not ensure safety interlock mechanisms were in proper operating conditions prior to allowing  employees to perform maintenance and where operators would be in close proximity to rotating parts of equipment.  Employees were exposed to caught-in and or amputation hazards.  1. Salt Bagging Line, Bag Sealer Machine Safety interlock was broken and ineffective. 2. Salt Line Ribbon Blender Hopper Left Safety Interlock was broken and ineffective .
